Grave Warning
Download gravestones from "Tools". Follow the directions to construct. Put on tables in school cafeteria.
Power of the Post-it
Go to "Facts" on web site, select those that are most powerful to you and write on Post-its. Place these powerful Post-its where the public is exposed to secondhand smoke.
Power of the Post-it 2
Write "Sure this place smells. But at least it doesn't kill 53,000 like secondhand smoke". Post it in smelly areas like bathrooms at restaurants or garbage cans at the bowling alley, etc.
Game On
(Make sure you get school permission for this one.) Take stick-on name labels and number them from 1 to 440. Hand them out at a high school football or basketball game to the crowd, and ask each person to stick label on shirt. (Don't tell them what it's for yet.) At halftime, let everyone in on the fact that as long as secondhand smoke is so prevalent in Iowa, everyone with a sticker will represent the 440 Iowans who die from secondhand smoke every year.
53K
53,000 Americans die every year from secondhand smoke. To honor them and to warn the rest of us who are in danger, download the 53K Spray Chalk stencil in "Tools". Follow the directions on the stencil and get our message out on the streets where a lot of people will see your message. Remember - ONLY USE SPRAY CHALK. We want to get people on our side. Defacing property and breaking the law will only turn people against us.
Hands
Here's how to get the message out that Big Tobacco kills 1,200 people a day. Get a long banner of paper, like the ones that they have on rolls in the school art department (50-100 feet long). Cover the banner in 1,200 hand prints using paint, all different colors and sizes. Turn it into a class project or just hang it up at school and encourage students to put their own print up there, to show their solidarity to the cause.
